Talons Meeting: Monday March 5, 2007

Minutes for February 2007 meeting: accepted

 

Financial report given by:  Treasurer (Liz Cunningham)

  • Still no money from Coffee guy.

 

Script totals given by:  Script coordinator (Jeannie Allen)

  • For the month of  February was very low
  • The question of where the money from graduated students goes. Jeannie said the money from all alumni and non band parents goes into the talons fund.
  • It was also discussed that the script account must have at least $5000 in it to replenish script that is purchased.

 

E-script totals

  • For the month of Nov and December 2006
    • Total Contributions $472.32
      • Talons: $389.30
      • Students $83.02

 

Old business: 

  • Candy sales will start the next week.
  • Uniform Sample was shown and one of the band members modeled it. Motion was made to approve ordering the new uniform and all approved. 
    • Financial costs
      • School approved $25,000
      • Talons acct. has $13,000 (ASB)
      • Total cost  $45,000
      • Still needed $5,400
    • All agreed that the talons has the 5,400 needed to complete the financial cost.

 

  • Spring tour:  May 4-6 Some suggestions were made about cutting the cost of the trip. It was suggested that they leave Friday and go to College of the Canyons, spend the night at a hotel there then go to Magic Mountain the next day coming home that evening. Another suggestion was to go to Disneyland for one day only. Mr. Campos will think about it and see if there might be other options.
  • Vote on by-laws:  Cindy put the motion forward to make the changes and all agreed unanimously.

 

New business:

  • It was discussed that there needs to be a scholarship committee and that they cannot be Senior parents. 4 people are needed to blind read the applications. Vera Crawford offered to chair the scholarship committee. There will be 3 scholarship given for $500 each.  

 

  • There needs to be a new nominating committee for the upcoming Board elections. Jeannie Allen, Stacy Green and Mrs. Van Cleave volunteered. 

 

Mr. Campos Report

 

  • Mr. Campos talked about up coming events:

 

      • March 13 Concert 7:00pm, call time 6pm students will wear black and white with ties for young men.
      • March 22 & 23 Band Festival @ Stockdale High School
      • March 29  Jazz Band Festival @ Ridgeview High School
