suggesting was a 10% savings for parent volunteers based on a number of
hours. Another suggestion is a basket for all new board members with a Marching

encourage parents to come to meetings, volunteer for events and

- Orientation
for incoming freshmen Tuesday April 17. Jazz band will be performing
representatives are needed.
- Freshman
registration Monday April 23 & Tuesday April 24. Boar members needed
to represent our group. We will have a table set up with flyers (to be
done by Teresa) about summer camp and a video playing of different
performances over the past few years. This will help to bring in new
members.
- A suggestion was made by Mr. Campos for a
Little Hawk day for next year. This would entail inviting incoming
freshmen and their parents to our Oxnard
competition to experience a day in the life of the band. It was agreed
that this topic would be moved for further discussion
- Band
attitude: It was discussed that the year is nearly over and it has been a
tough year for all. There had been some discussion of needing to change
the atmosphere of the band to a more positive one and that it should start
with the parents. Mr. Campos came into a tough position with virtually no
information on how the band was run and turned it into a successful year
for all bands. As members of the talons we need to promote a positive
experience for our students and turn around the negative atmosphere the
band has been suffering with all year. All agreed.
Mr. Campos Report
·
Mr. Campos discussed a change for
the budget for next year. Since the school had a lower income due to the field
problems at the beginning of the year we will need a larger bus budget for next
year and ASB will not be able to pay for as much.
·
Mr. Campos discussed that if
anyone has information on where to find or if they know how the budget was
normally put together he would welcome the help.
·
Band camp will be Aug 6-17 this
year.
